The first industrial revolution was when Thomas Savery invented the first commercial steam engine, what later changed the source of power in factories from men to engines. The second was when electricity was used on a large scale and mass productions and assembly lines where used on a large scale. The third revolution was when computers were used in industry and automation was deployed in a large scale at different industries.
Nowadays there is another industrial revolution happening and probably most of us aren't aware of. That's the 4th industrial revolution or Industry 4.0 which is lead by the IoT and 5G.
IoT is revolutionizing the way tasks are done as it is connecting everything together and adds intelligence and cooperation to otherwise dumb things.
5G is the catalyst of these trend. The extra high speed and low latency of 5G wireless network will soon make the dreamlike IoT a reality.
